Over the past several months as I've been working on bringing together the pieces for GorgeRail 2008, things have seemed a bit different than in the past. The interest in GorgeRail seems to be waning, and as I look at the level of interest in general, the (declining) number of folks who have expressed an interest to present, and the rising costs associated with the event, I have made the decision to cancel GorgeRail 2008. After talking with some of the other planners and looking at the various logistical details, I don't feel that proceeding this year will lead to a situation resulting in a positive experience for all and a satisfactory financial situation for the event.
I haven't made this decision lightly, and I hope this is not the end of the event. I'll be looking at some other options which might work out better from a logistical standpoint in the future.
